HIGH PERFORMANCE MODEL

This is a review by JASON BLEWITT
When Dave and I first came together to talk about the high performance longboard (HP) it was quite a few years ago. I had retired from the competitive scene and was really looking to develop my surfing based around experimental concepts and materials. Dave was right into both of these things. At first we did mostly experimental short boards and refined the fish models. Finally we decided to fine-tune his longboard models. The HP is a hybrid of what I have ridden for a long time in competition and new concepts that Dave brought to the table. What I wanted from a longboard is the ability to do everything on the one board. That’s what we have now with the HP longboard. The HP will surf at its best in waves from 1ft to 10ft in basically any wind or conditions. It is truly an all round longboard that will nose ride as good as a log but still pull off insane floaters and cutbacks. If going vertical is what you want to do the HP will do that also. Honestly though, the HP is best surfed as I would do. That is you must use every inch of the HP longboard to get the most out of it. Flow, critical maneuvers and smooth turns all combine with leg burning nose rides. That is what you get with the HP longboard. We have the design elements of the HP down perfectly and it is one of the best put together boards I have ridden….maybe ever. The board I have now is actually giving me the inspiration to return to the competitive scene it is that good. Combine this with Dave’s incredible graphics and you will be the most watched surfer in the ocean.

Isaac’s review........

Living on the border of the Gold and Tweed Coasts of Australia, I needed a surfboard that would have maximum speed, tight turning ability, and drive to slot tightly into the perfect long sandy barrels and pockets of waves on offer at home. When surfing waves like the Super Bank (Snapper Rocks) and Kirra, You could have the opportunity to make the longest cleanest barrels ever imaginable and given that opportunity, you don’t want to blow it!
Mostly, I was a shortboarder until late 2006 but was feeling pretty stale with where I was at with my surfing. After a few goes on a mates longboard, I realized I could surf bigger and smaller waves on the one single board. So I decided to work closely with Dave in fine tuning a longboard that would suit my style of surfing.
After some trials and tweaks Dave came up with the ultimate high performance model longboard. I think the best all-round board for most conditions I’ve ever ridden. It’s got me pumped about surfing and I feel like a grommet again!
From 1 foot to as big as you can paddle into. Pivoting and driving off the tail like a high performance shortboard, The speed of a rocket when you require it, stability like the ground you walk on and nose riding as good as any log I've ever ridden.
I regularly swap my boards and ride all kinds of surf equipment depending on how I feel like surfing at the time. But ultimately, my high performance model longboard is my choice of weapon as an all-round performance wave magnet. It’s what I use the most. Since riding it, I think I've racked up more quality tube time in 3 years than I have done in my previous 17 years of surfing.
I want to do as much as possible on wave in a big way without making it look like I'm trying too hard. I want to make big things look easy and relaxed. After all surfing is for enjoyment, a rush, and relaxation.. Not a work out.

My Diverse HP Longboard allows me to do all of this easier than any board I’ve ever ridden.

j-lo
J-LO MODEL

The Transition board! This board model comes from Dave's experiments 15 years ago after going snowboarding. Dave made the "bone" board & then kept things progressing. Over the next few years he kept creating abortions of the figure 8 outlines... As the return of the Quad fin became popular the merits of the wider tail were welcomed and the J-lo became a very user friendly board that allowed any one to have fun. The rear outline of the board allows the wave to be caught quickly and the board turns very easily on the hips. the full nose & volume allow it to paddle really well & Noseride incredibly well. the board features a double vee thru the fin area too. As There are 2 demos in the shop we have had an almost 100% success rate with customers trying them out then ordering customs.

JB CLASSIC MODEL
We designed this to provide a model for those pure old school longboarders out there. we detailed the bottom shape and the rails for glide. Ride it in small mushy waves or peeling point waves. Specifically for nose riding and traditional manoeuvres, such as the drop knee. This board goes through flat sections like it has a V8 engine and can turn on a dime, before setting up for a long hang ten noseride. Best to put a single fin in this one, however we can put side bites if your so inclined. We make tints, do volane glass jobs, wood blocks etc, all those classic elements that you remember from the 60's. Click here to see what stock of Longboards are instore at Tugun now!

A magic carpet ride......'The pig' model at Diverse will allow you to nose ride like you've never nose ridden before! It's what it's all about. Stylin glidin take off, bottom or drop knee turn and allow the magic to unfold! You'll spend so much time with your pinkies hanging over the nose, you won't want to set your feet back on land. The feeling of a heavy single fin longboard is bliss! The glide is addictive! The momentum is surprising! Allow your classic style to unfold riding the magic of 'the pig'. And it can be thought of as 'the pig' because you undoubtly find yourself making a pig of yourself with the waves on this new/old skool model of board.... "quote by Anastasia"
